Yoush utilizes state-of-the-art security and end-to-end encryption to provide private messaging and Internet calling services to users worldwide ("Services"). Your calls and messages are always encrypted, so they can never be shared or viewed by anyone but yourself and the intended recipients.
Account Information. You register a phone number when you create a Yoush account. Phone numbers are used to provide our Services to you and other Yoush users. You may optionally add other information to your account, such as a profile name and profile picture. This information is end-to-end encrypted.
Purpose of Verification. We require phone number verification solely to verify your identity and prevent unauthorized access to our Services. The phone number is used only during the verification process and is not collected, stored, or used for any other purposes such as marketing, profiling, or communication. Phone number verification is mandatory for creating and maintaining a Yoush account on our mobile applications (Android and iOS) and web platform.
Verification Process. When you register or verify your phone number:
Data Processing During Verification. During the phone number verification process, we temporarily process:
Important: We do not collect, store, or retain your phone number after the verification process is complete. Your phone number is used exclusively for sending the one-time verification code and is immediately discarded from our systems once verification is successful. We do not use, share, sell, or process your phone number for any purpose other than verification.
Third-Party Verification Services. We partner with trusted third-party telecommunications providers and verification service providers to deliver verification codes. These providers are contractually obligated to:
Data Retention. We do not retain your phone number after the verification process is complete. Verification attempt metadata (such as timestamps and verification status, without the actual phone number) is retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and fraud prevention purposes only, after which it is automatically and permanently deleted from our systems.
Your Rights. Since we do not store your phone number after verification, there is no phone number data to access, modify, or delete. However, you have the right to:
Security Measures. During the verification process, we implement industry-standard security measures including:
International Data Transfers. During the brief verification process, your phone number may be temporarily processed by our third-party verification service providers in countries outside your country of residence. These transfers are strictly limited to the duration of the verification process and comply with applicable data protection laws through appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). Your phone number is not stored internationally.
Children's Privacy. Our Services are not intended for users under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly process phone numbers from children for verification purposes. If we become aware that a child has attempted to use our verification service, we will immediately cease processing and delete any associated data.
Messages. Yoush cannot decrypt or otherwise access the content of your messages or calls. Yoush queues end-to-end encrypted messages on its servers for delivery to devices that are temporarily offline (e.g. a phone whose battery has died). Your message history is stored on your own devices. Additional technical information is stored on our servers, including randomly generated authentication tokens, keys, push tokens, and other material that is necessary to establish calls and transmit messages. Yoush limits this additional technical information to the minimum required to operate the Services.
Contacts. Yoush can optionally discover which contacts in your address book are Yoush users, using a service designed to protect the privacy of your contacts. Information from the contacts on your device may be cryptographically hashed and transmitted to the server in order to determine which of your contacts are registered.
User Support. If you contact Yoush User Support, any personal data you may share with us is kept only for the purposes of researching the issue and contacting you about your case.
Managing your information. You can manage your personal information in Yoush's application Settings. For example, you can update your profile information or choose to enable additional privacy features like a Registration Lock PIN.
Third Parties. We work with third parties to provide some of our Services. For example, our Third-Party Providers send a verification code to your phone number when you register for our Services. These providers are bound by their Privacy Policies to safeguard that information. If you use other Third-Party Services like YouTube, Spotify, Giphy, etc. in connection with our Services, their Terms and Privacy Policies govern your use of those services.
Other instances where Yoush may need to share your data:
We will update this privacy policy as needed so that it is current, accurate, and as clear as possible. Your continued use of our Services confirms your acceptance of our updated Privacy Policy.
